I remember during the first day of the full-scale invasion, the sound of the air raid siren was the most terrible sound. It was something that I had previously associated with Soviet movies about the Second World War. This sound is probably one of my strongest memories from the first day of the full-scale invasion. In this particular recording, I decided to contrast the very alien sound of the air raid siren with a very comforting sound [the interviewee's first recording captured the sound of stridulating crickets]…When I made the recording and listened back to it, I realised that we hear the sound of an air raid alarm very often now. When I spend the night in my hometown, I usually hear the air raid siren several times – and I expect to hear it…There is also a dog barking in the recording. It is my mother’s dog. This dog is very scared because of all these loud sounds. My mother tries to talk to her and to calm her.

Пам’ятаю, як у перший день повномасштабного вторгнення найстрашнішим був звук сирени повітряної тривоги. Раніше цей звук асоціювався у мене з радянськими фільмами про Другу Світову Війну. Цей звук, мабуть, є одним із моїх найяскравіших спогадів про перший день повномасштабного вторгнення. У цьому конкретному записі я вирішила протиставити дуже чужий для мене звук сирени повітряної тривоги дуже комфортному звуку [перший запис зафіксував звук стрекотіння цвіркунів]… Коли я зробила запис і повторно прослухала його, я задумалась про те, що ми зараз дуже часто чуємо звуки повітряної тривоги. Коли я ночую в своєму рідному місті [в Умані, центральна Україна], я зазвичай кілька разів на день чую цю сирену – і я постійно очікую її почути… На записі також можна чути гавкіт собаки. Це собака моєї мами. Вона дуже сильно лякається через усі ці гучні звуки. Мама намагається заговорити до неї і таким чином якось заспокоїти.
